My name is Shelley and I just moved here from Atlanta Georgia in June 08. My hardest thing about Colorado was getting used to the altitude. I have exercised induced asthma so it is hard to run and breathe at the same time. When I first moved here I gained some weight because I wasn't working out and I seemed to be tired all the time. A friend of mine told me about Altitude Peak Fitness. I thought she was crazy to get up at 4:30 in the mornings to work out. I was a nationally ranked swimmer back in the day and have not gotten up that early since college. But I signed up and was nervous as hell the first day...6 weeks later I am addicted and signed up for a year

What I liked most about boot camp was the variety. Everyday a different trainer, different techniques and personalities. You didn't ever know what you were going to do that day whether it was Cardio, upper or lower body workouts. So, you never had time to dread what was coming or get bored.

The hardest part of boot camp for me was the running and cardio because of my asthma. But I noticed over the last 6 weeks of camp that my breathing got a lot better and I was able to push myself on cardio day.

What I wanted to gain from boot camp is my fitness level back and lose weight to get my body back!!

I have done a lot of different classes over the years plus I used to teach step aerobics. This boot camp is so different from anything else I have ever done, the teachers are great, and the people are lots of fun and energetic. Everyone in the class completely supports each other and pushes each other. Don't miss a class though and don't be late!!! I will leave it at that.

I believe that Altitude Peak Fitness is special and unique because it is so personalized! No one is left behind, things can be modified to fit your needs and at Altitude Peak Fitness they specialize in working with each and every one of us.

What made me feel best about doing this class is I achieved Most Improved and I had perfect attendance and it shows.

If you have never done this class, you need to. It’s a lot of fun and it will change your life!

What did you like most about camp?

I like the variety in exercise routines and instructors from one day to the next. The level of surprise every day keeps it fresh and new. The team mentality of working out with the same people every day made me feel accountable to be there and motivated me to push my limits.

What surprised you most?

Running is definitely not my strong suit and I was a little intimidated to run distances and keep with the group. At the end of camp, I knocked about 2 minutes off my 1 mile time and ran nonstop without walking. I also realized the days that we ran outside for longer distances were the days I felt the best. I've noticed a big cardiovascular change in me where I can actually breathe and not feel like I'm grasping for air all the time!

What was the hardest part of camp?

Waking up for the 5:30am class every day took some getting used to and required me to be more aware of what I did the night before. It takes some self-discipline, but it's worth it if you're serious about getting in shape and taking control of your life and your body. I got used to waking up early and feeling so good during the day. Now I'm on more of a schedule so, I have tons more energy! Plus, I get the hard exercise out of the way early in the morning, so I am open for the evenings and don't feel guilty.

What did you hope to gain or lose through camp?

I have to say initially I wanted to lose weight, but in the end I realized how much more I gained from camp. I became stronger, more toned, more self-confident and have way more energy throughout the day. The effects of camp on me have influenced all aspects of my life, not just my body.

What did you hope to gain (or lose) through a bootcamp?

For me, it's more to keep what I have been working for over many years. But in my regular gym workout routine, I become bored. So a few times a year, I decide to take Tiffinie's camp to get myself psyched again.

How does boot camp compare to other exercise classes?

If you want serious results, an aerobics class once a week at your gym is not going to give you what you might want. If you are serious about getting or staying in shape, a daily group exercise is what you need.

What makes Altitude Peak Fitness special?

It feels like you're working out with your friends.

What made you feel the best of all the things you did?

Getting a tighter body.

What did you like most about camp?

Peer pressure and competing against my friend Craig (I’m usually winning!)

Would you recommend APF to a friend?

Absolutely, and I have many times. For roughly $10 a day, you can't get a better work out.

Peter Hecking, December 2008

What did you hope to gain (or lose) through a bootcamp?

Improve my running time and gain strength.

What did you like most about camp?

ACCOUNTABILITY!!! You get out of bed at 5am every day because you know the instructor will notice you're not there.

What made you feel the best of all the things you did?

Working out every morning. Feeling like you've already acomplished a lot before you have even gone to work.

How does bootcamp compare to other exercise classes?

It's more of a team feeling with the same workout partners every morning. It's something different every day. You never know what you're going to be doing, so you never get bored.

What surprised you most?

How good it feels to work out at 5:30 in the morning and how much more alert I feel at work.

Would you recommend APF to a friend?

YES! It's a great way to be accountable. You're done with your workout before you've headed to work. You feel great about yourself. It improves your strength and speed. You're never bored and it's always a surprise.

My husband won a spot in fitness boot camp. A few days before the camp started he asked if I wanted to join the camp with him. Since I wanted to support him in his efforts to lose weight and get into better shape, I agreed to go. Besides, I needed to lose a few extra pounds too.

The first day I could barely run without stopping, completed 23 sit-ups and only 13 push-ups in the time allotted. However, after the 6 weeks, I shaved almost 2 1/2 minutes off my mile run, did 56 sit-ups and 33 push-ups. I feel great, lost a few pounds, lost inches and have much more energy. I can't wait for camp to start again so I can continue to build my endurance, strength and my emotional well being."

I really like the fact that I am committed to a specific time every day. I also love that I never know what the day has in store for me. Is it running, circuit training or a big race?

I would recommend this to anyone who wants to shake up their exercise routine.

Christine, July 2007

What made you feel the best of all the things you did in APF boot camp?

Actually running a full mile without stopping! I have NEVER done that in my life before. It was really cool when everyone who had already finished-- cheered me on and pushed me through the last hill to the finish line. That made me feel great!

What was hardest part about the camp?

Waking up in enough time to get to camp by 5:30 a.m.!

What did they hope to gain (or lose) through APF boot camp?

I know myself and would never push myself to the extremes that I experienced in boot camp. I've built my endurance, strength and lost some inches along the way. After being unsuccessful in motivating myself to exercise for more than two weeks straight, I needed someone to make sure I didn't stop. It forced me to do a complete workout without giving into myself.

What makes APF special?

The instructors were great - kept me going. We pushed ourselves each at our own level. I was a little nervous when joining that I would always be left behind, but everyone was very positive and helped me push - and exceed - my limits.

The universe was telling me to finally drop the excuses and start exercising that fateful day at a networking event in the bar. I had been wanting to start exercising, but lacked the motivation to actually do it.

I've been all-but-sedentary for the last six years, and I was very nervous to begin any type of exercise program, much less something called "boot camp". In fact, it took all of my willpower just to show up on the first day of class. It took even more willpower to continue showing up for the next two weeks because of the new aches and pains I was feeling each day. But by the third week I was really enjoying the workouts each day, and not feeling nearly as much pain. Now that the six-week class has ended, I am still working out almost every day, and I'm really feeling great about myself and my appearance. In addition to feeling better, I'm also looking better. I lost 14 pounds and two inches from my waist during the six weeks of boot camp. Plus, my blood pressure went back into the normal range and my wife says that my snoring has decreased dramatically.

Altitude Peak Fitness helped to give me the tools and motivation to get back into good physical shape, thus helping me feel better and more confident about myself.

Thanks APF.
